Immigrant Store Clerk Sobs Over Her Gratitude For America

I went shopping today and was waited on by a wonderful middle-aged woman named Liama, an immigrant from Lithuania. I asked  her where she was from, and she began almost immediately to share how happy she was in America.  She credited Ronald Reagan for saving her life and those of her mother and two brothers when the President challenged Gorbachev to "tear down that wall!"
Many years previous back home, in a forest nearby her home, her father was executed for resisting the Communist regime and his hidden bones were recovered there only recently. Her two brothers were simultaneously sent off to a Siberian prison and only survived when Gorbachev withdrew his troops from that country and they were released from prison.
She was so effusive in praise of America that she became emotional and began to cry. She also said that she did not understand how some of our citizens could violently protest against our country. She said if they only knew what life was like in countries in the old USSR and other places now, they would kiss the ground. I think of my college educated nephew, Ryan, strongly feels that our country should abandon capitalism and embrace communism.  He said that we would be much better off with our wealth redistributed so that there was greater equality.
Perhaps Liama and others like her, should go on a lecture tour of our public schools and tell our kids the truth about the beacon of freedom that America is and offer a desperately needed alternative to the liberal pap that they are brainwashed with on a daily basis.
If the kids really are looking for a safe space, Liama would tell them, "You already found it.....you're in America!!!"
